Description
Our Fingerless Mittens are lovingly crafted from the wool of our Coloured Ryeland Flock, which graze alongside the Erme Estuary, overlooking Mothecombe Beach. These mittens are inspired by the Gansy traditions of coastal fishing knitwear, blending heritage with purpose.
The cable stitch signifies “safe passage,” while the moss stitch reflects the texture of carrageen moss seaweed, a symbol of optimism for a “bountiful harvest.” Entirely made in the UK, our mittens champion British farming and textile craftsmanship. The wool is spun into yarn at the Natural Fibre Company in Cornwall, and knitted in the historic British textile heartlands of the Midlands.
Soft enough to wear next to the skin and warm enough to shield against the cold. Slow, sustainable fashion.
