Description
Our Meadowsfoot Fingerless Mittens are our first and limited edition Gansy-style Mitts produced from our Coloured Ryeland Flock which graze on our pastures beside the Erme Estuary and overlooking Mothecombe Beach. The design is inspired by the Gansy traditions of coastal fishing knitwear with the cable stitch signifying “safe passage” and the moss stitch, representing the texture of the carrageen moss Seaweed on which Herring feed and symbolises optimism for a “bountiful harvest”. Our Gansy-style Mitts are entirely made in the UK and are the cornerstone of British farming and fashion having been grown within a Regenerative Farming System that puts nature at the very heart of our practices, spun into yarn at the Natural Fibre Company in Cornwall and knitted in the British textiles heartlands in the Midlands. They provide a warm layer and are soft enough to be worn next to the skin though look best with an underlayer. They look, feel and smell authentic and natural and will set you apart as you take farming, fashion and the natural world into a sustainable direction.
